Brazen, named as a play off the style of braised cooking (and the owner's personality), is a neighborhood eatery located on the grounds of the Old Elich Amusement park. This project became a study of creating conversation spaces within a small footprint. Several typologies of seating were designed to create group spaces as well as intimate spaces for smaller parties.

The initial conceptualization of the space was to create a modern restaurant that retained the charisma and comfort of a neighborhood eatery. That goal was accomplished through materiality. The bars were crafted from re-purposed semi trailer beds which have a unique texture and appearance. The owner and chef also had a hand in burning the wood to create the Shou Sugi Ban finish on the wood in the entry.
